Ideas for your submission:
If you’re an NDIS participant
Things you might like to say in your own voice
- My choice, my provider, not one assigned to me
- No monopolies, that’s not the Australian way
- I can switch easily if something isn’t working
- I keep the coordinator I already trust
- I can find support that understands my culture, language and needs
- Providers work harder to keep me happy, because I can leave
- Real choice and control, not just a complaints form
If you’re a family member or carer
Things you might like to say on behalf of your family
- We choose the provider that’s the right fit, not one we’re told to use
- We keep the trusted relationships we’ve built over the years
- We have somewhere else to turn if a provider isn’t working
- Real choice better respects family and kinship structures, especially for First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse families
- We can raise concerns honestly, without fearing it’s the only provider around
If you’re a friend, supporter or community member
Things you might like to say about the wider community
- Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and culturally specific services stay open and supporting their own communities
- Local knowledge, relationships, jobs and expertise stay local
- A range of providers keeps the system innovative and trusted
- I believe everyone deserves a real say in who supports them
